Sandra D. Comer

Dr. Comer's research focus has been on the development and testing of novel approaches to the treatment of opioid use disorder using the methods of behavioral pharmacology and human laboratory paradigms, as well as the relationship between pain and opioid abuse. She is an expert on the basic pharmacology of opioids and stimulants, translating medications from the laboratory to assess promising clinical applications. She is the Past-President of the College on Problems of Drug Dependence, the longest-standing organization in the U.S. addressing substance use disorders.
